Hypnotism – The Mind Body Connection!

There was once a time when hypnotism was not really given the respect it deserves. Thought to be a cheap trick performed by some sleigh of the hand, the true value of this science is coming to be known only today.

Shedding its unwanted past glamour, hypnotism is now rapidly emerging as a perfect alternative treatment that can be used for healing and curing even certain rare conditions which do not respond to any other kind of treatment. The spectrum of hypnosis includes anything psychosomatic to actual physical disorders.

The root cause of any disease is the mind. Anything and everything negative that we experience actually sprouts out from the mind. Hence, if the mind is cured of its pain, the body responds accordingly and heals itself automatically.

Hypnotism is used today even for events like painless childbirth, surgery and so on. Why, this technique has also been employed effectively in the case of alcoholics and chain-smokers, who have succeeded in giving up their habits post a few hypnotherapy sessions.

Of course, there are also other very effective methods such as psychotherapy and cognitive behavior therapy, but hypnosis is slowly and steadily moving forward and is now considered to have the potential enough to become the most powerful source of wellness.

How exactly does hypnosis work?

There are critics of hypnosis who claim that this technique is only a method of relaxing and calming the mind and nothing else. But those who actually practice this wonderful science say there is much more to it. Hypnosis is no more viewed as something that puts the subject completely to sleep, with him surrendering his entire being at the mercy of the hypnotherapist.

Hypnosis, on the other hand, helps the subject relax completely, letting go of the negativity that binds him. It actually creates a heightened state of mind, so that the subject becomes more receptive to positive suggestions, thereby, responding better and quicker to treatment.

Scientists are yet trying to fully understand how exactly the modification in the mind brings about such a remarkable change in the body. They aver that it is probably the deep focused state of mind that helps the subject recover so soon from his ailment or addiction. For instance, a chain smoker who receives suggestions that he will feel like quitting smoking very soon, actually develops a distaste for the very thing he craved for a few weeks ago, and completely turns over a new leaf. Scientists say that the change might be taking place because the seed of thought is sown deep into the very psyche of the individual and not merely suggested at the surface level.

There are many among us who have a tremendous phobia of dentists. Even the mere thought of the dentist’s drill can get our stomachs churning! While it is quite normal and natural to feel a bit apprehensive, there are people who take it to the extreme. Such subjects are known to have found great relief with a few hypnotherapy sessions.

Hypnotherapy is known to provide relief in conditions such as angina (pain in the chest), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), snoring, shortness of breath, asthma and even cystic fibrosis. What is more, this technique has even been found useful for quicker healing of wounds, reduction in joint pains and so on.

In conclusion, hypnotism can be put to a variety of uses and can help a whole lot of people who have had to suffer varied symptoms for many years. This is nothing sinister of evil as projected by the media some years ago. Quite on the contrary, it can give you a sense of extreme peace, security and well-being.

If you are the victim of some condition that simply refuses to let go of you, do try out hypnotherapy. It might end up working out like nothing else!
